A flue works under negative pressure drawing the product of combustion from the appliance.
A successful “chimney draw” is dependent on the following principles:
The difference in air pressure between the appliance and the top of the chimney. (created by the height of the chimney)
The difference in temperature between the appliance’s exhaust gas and the outside temperature.
The quality of insulation along the length of the chimney.
It is essential to choose a flue diameter that matches the output from the appliance. An adequate air supply is also required for the appliance to operate safely and efficiently.
Stainless steel system chimneys consist of twoconcentric stainless steel metal walls with insulation filling the annular space between them. Some systems have a ceramic liner, which can offer a longer life. Factory made system chimneys are easy to handle and available with wide range of fittings such as elbows, terminals and tees, all of which simple lock or push together. They are easily assembled and supported with purpose designed support brackets.
These products, which can be used internally and externally, must be certified to BS EN 1856-1:2009. Stainless steel systems tend to be used in existing buildings that do not have a chimney and extensions, because they do not require a dedicated foundation and can be easily retrofitted.

Stainless steel flexible liners are certified to BS EN1856-2.
Flexible liners are used to reline an existing chimney. Care must be taken when selecting a flexible liner.
These liners should be used with wood and multi-fuel appliances. Single skin liners must never be used with wood or multi-fuel applications.

Our Lead Flashing is designed to fit around the flue pipe onto the roof sheeting material. The Flashing consists out of 1000mm x 1000 mm lead plate with a 316 Stainless steel spigot welded to the centre of the plate. The spigot is either designed for a flat roof installation (0 to 5 degrees) or an inclined roof installation (5 to 35 degrees). Lead flashings are available for pipes ranging from 80mm to 300mm in outer diameter. The lead flashing is extremely durable and can be installed on and moulded to any roof material and profile. It is however compulsory to use a storm collar fitted on the flue pipe itself directly above the spigot of the lead flashing to complete the waterproofing installation. The storm collar prevent any water from entering via the spigot of the flashing. It is also compulsory to use a bituminous layer between the lead flashing and corrugated zinc roof sheeting, to prevent potential galvanic reaction.
