Historically, cast iron is the traditional material used in the manufacture of wood burning fireplaces and stoves. Cast iron fireplaces are strong, durable and generally have the appearance of a classic wood burning stove.
Although they take longer to heat up due to being thicker and denser than steel, they retain heat for much longer, and will continue to radiate heat even after the fire has gone out.
